More Mother's Day

As I said in the previous post, my mother's day was near perfect.  It began  last weekend in Bloomington with Alissa and Nathan.  Continued with a Preschool trip to the farm with Courtney and Tizita joining us, our annual trip to Ebert's greenhouse with my mom, the Rummage Sale on Saturday, wonderful church service on Saturday night followed by dinner and beers at On the Rock, and finally our bike trip yesterday.  My celebrations included everything that I wanted to do on my day.
Courtney and Paul gave me some beautiful jewelry made by Ethiopian mothers and three pictures of their family including Soliana.  What great gifts!
Today it is back to normal, but with only two weeks of Preschool left this year, the time will go quickly.

Mother's Day bike ride

Today was a beautiful day, the temps were in the 70's, the breeze was ever so gentle, and the sun was shining.  Perfect weather for our first bike ride of the season.  Perfect way to spend Mother's Day
We rode the lake Country trail from Oconomowoc to Delafield.  Tiz rode on the back of my bike.  I did a pretty good job getting her almost all the way to Delafield.   Courtney took over for the last mile or so.
John had Tizita's help as he adjusted her handlebars which were loose.
Lunch at a coffee shop in Delafield.
Time for a nature hike to Cushing Park in Delafield.  Paul and Tiz found a perfect climbing tree.
Courtney and Tizita checking out the marsh.
I am one happy mother today.  Last weekend I had a fabulous time with Alissa and Nathan and this weekend it was Courtney, Paul, and Tizita.  Good times all the way around for this mom.

A Final Rummage Sale

Today we had our final rummage sale ever!
Back when John was laid off I had rummages to make some serious money, but now that he is gainfully enployed again, I find them time consuming and a lot of work for a little profit.
Tizita did ask if she could set up a cookie selling stand to make money for bringing Soliana home, so she did just that.
She was a great little sales lady, too.
I think she may have made more than I did when all is said and done.
I am just hoping to make enough to take us all out to dinner tonight.

A visit to the Library and Mullen's

Yesterday I took both of my classes to the Library and Mullen's.  Here is the PM class all ready to start the trek to the library.  The weather was perfect for a walk.  We used our walking rope which always helps the kids stay together and keeps those stragglers in line.
I have written about my friend, Lynne on this blog previously and as is expected we had another wonderful tour of the library under her direction.  After our tour, Lynne read a few books to the kids and sang a fews songs with them, too.  Here they are singing "Twinkle, twinkle Little Star."
Posing outside the library before heading to Mullen's for our ice cream treat.
And finishing up our exciting day with ice cream!  Twelve of the kids ordered Blue Moon, by far the most popular flavor.  We also had four individuals who ordered vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, and cookie dough.  As usual, the ice cream was delicious.
As we were leaving Mullen's after a big dish of ice cream, Conner, the little smiling guy in this photo,  said, "Aren't we going to have snack today?"  I was like, "Hello, Conner, what do you think we just had!"  And you wonder why I love this job.  Never a dull moment.

The kids represented St. John's well.  I was very proud of their good behavior!  Tomorrow we are off to the dairy farm.  Gotta love May and all the field trips!

I needed to update my CPR certification for school so along with  my fellow teachers, we are all required to watch the two DVD's and then take the class next Monday.  You know the one with the dummies.
There are 14 of us that have to watch the DVD's by Monday, so I brought them home on Monday night, a bit disgruntled due to the fact that I had already attended our weekly staff meeting and had just heard that the first aid DVD alone was almost 2 hours long.  Ugh, it was going to be along night.

I put the first aid DVD in the laptop while I made supper and found that I could easily fast forward through lots of it and still get the concept.  I also felt it unnecessary to pay close attention to the snake bite, electric shock, drowning, heat stroke, and a few other sections since that wasn't going to happen in my classroom.
After learning all there was to know about First Aid (well, except for the above named things) I put in the CPR video and found that it had not changed since two years ago, so no need to really listen to that one, more fast forwarding, saw very quick chest thrusts!
John was watching some of it with me during supper and we decided that I would always be the one to go for help and call 911 by saying,
" So and so, do you know first aid?  Good, you stay here with this victim while I go call 911 and get help."
Now I just have to pass the Monday "hands on" section.

Rainbow/first picture successfully posted to FB with new phone

As we were taking our walk last night we saw this awesome rainbow.
Since we have my phone to track our walk, I used it for the first time to take this photo and send it to FB.
Not only was it a beautiful site, but I was able to successfully complete my photo task.
Maybe it is never too late to learn new technological skills.
So add camera to my other uses for my smart phone.

Now this is one SMART Phone!

As I posted yesterday, Motel 6 left the light on for us this past weekend in Normal, IL.
When you pay less than $40.00 for a motel room, you do  not expect frills.
For this reason, there was a charge for internet service.
Now, I could probably do without the internet for two days, wait, no, I could not.  I have words to play with friends and bubbles to pop in Witch Saga and FB to update, etc.
So, John mentioned that he thought we could use the new smartphone to get free wi fi and sure enough, I just used the hotspot wi fi, hooked it up to the laptop, and we were in business.
I do indeed have one Smart phone!
I seldom use it for a phone, but it sure is nice for a wi fi connector, a kindle, and a flashlight.
