Being Grandparents can be exhausting at times!

Yesterday John and I went up to Oshkosh to spend the day hanging out with Tizita so that Courtney and Paul could get some work done on their garden. The weather could not have been much worse. Because of the blustery winds we couldn't do anything outside with Tizita. There was no rain so Courtney and Paul could get the gardening work done which was good. Tizita was diagnosed with not only croup but an ear infection so she was on meds which were making her a bit on the hyper side. So when you put together a rather hyped up medicated two year old and a day that had to be spent inside you get two very tired grandparents. I really thought that because I can handle sixteen three year olds day in and day out that I could handle a two year old granddaughter without complete exhaustion!
We started the day out by taking Tizita to Hobby Lobby where she proceeded to fill the cart with lots of things while saying, "I need it." She couldn't decide if she wanted to ride sitting in the cart, on the cart, or standing up in the cart. We just had to laugh at her silliness. We did end up with a few fun projects and gummy worms which were half gone by the time we got to the check out.
After our shopping trip at Hobby Lobby we headed over to Culver's for lunch. Tizu kept the patrons all entertained with the show she put on. The girls in the booth behind us could not get enough of her cuteness. She didn't want a booster or a high chair but chose rather to stand on the seat. She is like her mama and likes to drink her milk right out of the carton without a straw.
It is hard for me to explain right now, but it was like she had seven foot arms and moved with lightning speed as she touched and moved everything on the table. John and I would just look at one another and laugh. She did eat half her grilled cheese sandwich and some fries along with a bit of fruit. A few weeks ago while visiting here in Watertown, her mama, Alissa, and Mallory taught her to point and say "sicko" to each other. This brought lots of laughs from all of us. Well, you know these things have a way of turning on you, right. As we were sitting in Culver's, I said to Tizu, "You know, you are the sicko now!" (I was referring to her being sick with croup and an ear infection.) She proceeded to point at different people in Culver's and say "Sicko!" rather loudly. After our lunch we went to the dollar store where she found many more things she needed to take home with her. We headed home from there and she fell asleep in the car. I tried my best to get her up to bed without her waking up, but I failed. Now everyone knows how difficult it is to get a child back to sleep after a ten minute nap in the car! I pulled every trick out of my bag, but nothing worked so eventually we just got up.

After the ten minute nap, we decided to paint. I also put her in big girl panties which stayed dry for about an hour or so. We had fun painting though and she created some masterpieces. Bathtime was required after the painting. She did want to wear her flippers!

After bathtime we had a great time playing in her playroom. As usual, she is the activity director and tells us exactly how and what to play. She sat for a good 45 minutes and listened to me read books to her which was very nice. I told her two Bible stories which she can now retell. We had pizza for supper. Courtney and Paul had a few finishing touches to complete on their project so we ended our evening playing "Going to Florida" which involved me sitting in Tizu's closet while she opened and closed the door bringing in and taking out things we were taking to or bringing home from Florida. She would give these things to John who was sitting outside the closet. It kept her occupied for a good hour. What a hoot she is! She just looks at us with those big brown eyes and we melt! The best part is we will be going to Florida together in mid June!

Courtney and Paul were able to get much work done on their garden and at the end of the day, I was asking if we couldn't just take Tizu home with us for the night and return her on Sunday so they could continue their work. Courtney said they would have taken us up on the offer if Tizu were not a sicko, but she has a hard time with her croup during the night, so ...
At any rate we had a great day even if it was a bit exhausting! We had better get ourselves into shape before May 30 when we get to have her for the very first overnight by ourselves! We cannot wait!

Ha ha! That's all I can say. The girl is a riot and very tiring, but just think - I do it all day, every day! It's the best, isn't it?

I agree with John. Those are great pictures and the flippers were my favorite. Forgot you were going to Florida so soon. That will be such a great trip.
